In this piece I wanted to play with a sense of emotional ambiguity. The twinkling, saccharine nature of the music and its orchestration should always be taken with a grain of salt. I tried to create the sense that these percussive, fundamentally non-sustaining instruments were in fact continuing one musical idea throughout the piece.
Extra-musically, the title of the piece may sound profound or sentimental, but it actually has to do with paper towels. And that's all I'll say about that.
